15 Weeks!

What's up with Babyopolis?
Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). She's busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she's likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but she is forming taste buds. (From here.)

What's up with Stephopolis?

Still sick in the mornings.  And I think my hair-trigger gag reflex is to blame.  I sleep with a bite guard to prevent grinding my teeth (sexy), and when I take it out in the morning, that's when I start to heave.  At least it doesn't seem to be food related, which is good.  And once I've been sick once in the morning, I usually feel fine for the rest of the day.  But this is one symptom that I really hope will go away soon!

I also had to retire my first pair of work pants.  They were fine in the morning, but as the day progressed they became more and more restrictive and uncomfortable, to the point where I was massively distracted for the entire back half of my work day.  I have never been so happy to get into my pyjama pants.  So now I'm at that kind of awkward stage where I'm getting a bit big for regular pants, but I'm still not 'bumpy' enough for maternity pants.  Grr.

Also, there's no picture for this week (because I forgot!), but I'm spending the Easter weekend with the fam in Nanoose, so I'll take a nice scenic picture for my 16 week update :)

Bullet points!
  • How far? I'm 15 weeks 6 days pregnant
  • Cravings: WATERMELON!!
  • Aversions: Still pork.
  • Workouts: Prenatal yoga and a walk.  Hoping to up the number of walks this week :)
  • Number of times we've used the doppler: Once, for Adam's parents
  • Anything else?: I'm anxiously awaiting the first movements of Babyopolis which, according to
the internet, I should start to feel sometime around week 18, although mom felt movements earlier when she was pregnant with me, so maybe I'll luck out and feel them at week 16. Exciting!

  1. Hurray for retirement of work pants! I`ve had to do that too. Decided to view it as a milestone (can`t really be considered an "accomplishment", can it? Not like WE'VE really done anything...).

Have you considered getting or making a belly band for your pants? It's just a big loop of stretchy fabric that goes over the top of your pants and lets you wear them undone. I've heard of people using tube tops as belly bands, and apparently that works *really* well.
